Don’t Sleep on Podcasting — It’s Still Underrated
Real talk: podcasting doesn’t get enough credit as a side hustle.
Everyone’s chasing dropshipping, freelancing, or whatever the current trend is, but a simple niche podcast can actually stack up faster than people expect — if you’re consistent.
I started mine talking about random stuff I was already into. No master plan. No expectations.
Things only started picking up once I distributed it properly:
- Spotify
- YouTube
- A few other podcast platforms
Once the content was everywhere, momentum slowly built.
How It Makes Money
Nothing fancy.
Revenue comes from:
- Listener support
- A few affiliate mentions
- Platform monetization
Individually, none of these are huge. Together, they add up.
I’m now on my third month in a row making over $500/month.
It’s not “quit your job” money, but it absolutely covers groceries and random monthly expenses — and it keeps growing.
Gear Reality Check
You don’t need insane equipment to start.
I literally began recording with:
- A cheap Blackshark gaming headset
- Spotify for Podcasters for hosting
That said, spending money on better gear eventually is inevitable. Upgrades like proper mics and interfaces will come if you stick with it.
The real money long-term is in:
- Owning your audience
- Choosing the right hosting platform (I use Castos)
Takeaway
If you already:
- Talk about a hobby nonstop
- Rant with friends
- Have opinions you’d share anyway
Just record it.
Podcasting isn’t flashy, but it compounds quietly — and most people ignore it because it doesn’t promise overnight results.
Which is exactly why it still works.
